God Shattering Star - 2020 Games Completed Thread

Resident Evil 3 (PC) A very enjoyable ride from start to finish (I love you, mine grenades). There are things I like in this one more than RE2make (No Sherry segment and taking down your pursuer can be worthwhile), but there are also things from that I liked more than this one (RE3make likes to...

Nioh 2 (PS4) Deeper, more varied combat; more interesting locales; a crap ton of new and returning enemies with lots of little variations: Nioh 2 is a great sequel. This game, in some respects, is a fantasy interpretation of the rise and fall of Toyotomi Hideyoshi wrapped up in a deep Ninja...

DOOM Eternal (PC) That was a very fun, albeit incredibly intense, ride from start to finish.

I've got that remake on Vita and I think the problem people have with it is that it's faithful. It plays very close to how the OG played, and I guess people were just expecting Secret of Mana type gameplay when that just wasn't the original game at all.

Bioshock (PS4) Been a long time since I played this at all, and the first time I played it by myself all the way through (originally played it with my best friend; we'd switch control of the character whenever we'd get too spooked lol). While I can tell the game has aged, the upres and the...

Caladrius Blaze (NS) A prime example of a Lewder Shooter ie a shmup with progressively less clothes being worn by anime girls. (Got this because of it's weird steelbook sleeve thingie)

Mega Man Zero (NS) Shoutout to "Protect the Factory" still being the most BS stage in this whole game bar none 18 years later.

20XX (PC) It's a Mega Man X Rogue Like. Basically. For what it is, it's good. But going through it just reaffirms my hesitance about Rogue Likes and Rogue Lites in general. I find them fascinating conceptually, but in practice permadeath and other similar shit just isn't an itch I feel the...

Dragon Marked for Death (NS) This was a Jolly Co-op game with @EvilTw1n and @CitizenOfVerona and, on the whole, I liked it. Spritework was good, had interesting stage design, and it was fun combining spell incantations to get more powerful spells. The loot grind, however, was a bit much and...

Diablo III: Eternal Collection (NS) Finally went back and finished the DLC story, thereby beating this game. Most of my playthrough was done via co-op waaaaay back in the day when it first launched on switch with several of the GameWitness crew like @simplyTravis and I'd say that's where it...

Darksiders Genesis (NS) Despite some occasional technical hiccups I thoroughly enjoyed myself playing this isometric Sword n Gun / Puzzle Platformer. Getting to know the last of the Four Horseman from the Darksiders series, Strife, long before the start of the first game was super interesting...

Metroid Zero Mission (Wii U) Metroid Samus Returns (3DS) Super Metroid (NS) Metroid Fusion (Wii U) What was originally conceived as a birthday marathon of all four games quickly changed partway through Samus Returns when I realized I had forgotten how long the game was. Can't really say too...

Fun fact: In the original Japanese version of Super Metroid, this is how she refers to the infant Metroid. The dispassionate "Metroid Larva" wasn't a good translation.

Woke up late today, glad it's my weekend. But even happier that the Kansas City Chiefs are currently the Super Bowl Champions.

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (XB1) Without a doubt the best Star Wars game I've played in a long time. Combat felt nice, and the traversal aspects were great.

Doom (OG) (360) Randomly bought Doom 3 BFG edition for "xbox One and Xbox 360" (we all really know it's just a repackaged 360 disc in a modified Xbone case) since it was on clearance at Walmart (and I wanted that poster inside). Only way I had ever played the original Doom was via halfway...

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy (NS) That certainly was something resembling a story, I guess. As for the game itself, it's an interesting, if simplified, fighting game that can be a lot of fun or frustrating, depending on whether or not the game decides you have frame advantage or not that second.

Control (XB1) Once I started leveling skills that weren't health, and were therefore actually useful, I ended up having a much better time with this game and really enjoying almost every moment. This was one I definitely went through and made sure to read every single note, status report or...

Mega Man X (NS) Did a goofy "challenge" run kind of thing, where I had a friend randomly order the numbers 1 through 8 and used those to determine my order through the game. Going through B. Kuwanger, F. Mammoth, and S. Mandrill without weaknesses and without the boots was certainly...
