Nintendo 3DS had a rocky start upon launch in early 2011, so rocky that Nintendo basically issued an apology to all of its early adopters via the “Ambassador Program” that offered a bunch of exclusive free games. However, it overcame that initial hurdle and became yet another wildly successful Nintendo handheld console, going on to sell 75.87 million units across its full family of 3DS devices.
