Composer Koichi Sugiyama, best known for his work on the Dragon Quest series, has died at age 90. Sugiyama passed away on September 30, 2020, after going into a septic shock. His family and friends held a private funeral. Koichi Sugiyama’s work with Square Enix goes back to 1985 when he composed his first video game music for World Golf by then Enix. Before that, he was already a well-established composer, having worked on various TV programs through the 80s and 90s.
