"The 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan might feel a long way off – and, well, they are – but by the time the event starts, another of the country’s major cities (Osaka) will be hosting a dedicated Super Mario attraction inside Universal Studios Japan (USJ).

Confirmation of the Nintendo Mario area (it’s really, really tempting to refer to it as Mario World, but there’s no indication of the name just yet) came from Japanese publication Sankei, which reports that the project will cost Universal Studios just over $350 million (around 400 billion yen) by the time its completed some time before 2020. It’s currently slated to take a prime spot just to the left of the entrance of the park."

Rough translation....

USJ, 400 å„„ new attraction of the Nintendo Mario is on the left side front gate

"It is scheduled to be installed on the left side just a place on the front gate, to assume the area that are currently used, such as in the event space. Although little land that can be extended to USJ, to secure a space in that transfer of the area that you are using, such as in the waiting room of the office and the employee which is adjacent to the event space is also to consider."

"USJ November last year, was acquired by the US media giant Comcast. In the new Chief Executive Officer Jean Mr. Louis Bonnier, who took office in (CEO) in February conference, he had shown a positive attitude to the large-scale investment to USJ."

Wasn't there also talk of them doing the same at Universal Studios in Orlando? Or was it always just Japan?

Supposedly I had heard about a Nintendo theme park being built. Did not know it was focused soley on Mario though. Legend of Zelda or Metroid would have had better potential for rollercoaster or rides in general ideas in my opinion. Best I can expect from this would be rides or areas utilizing pipe transportation.
