[MS] Epic sells Gears of War to Microsoft

Even my henchmen think I'm crazy.
Anyone holding out hope that the next Gears of War game would somehow be available on a non-Microsoft platform has had those hopes dashed this morning. Microsoft has announced its acquisition of the entire Gears of War franchise from previous owner and Unreal Engine developer Epic Games.

The move isn't much of a shock, considering that Microsoft Studios published the first four Gears of War games as Xbox 360 exclusives (not counting a Windows version for the 2006 original). Still, the acquisition locks up another high-profile shooter exclusively in the Xbox One camp, alongside the Halo series and EA/Respawn's heavily anticipated Titanfall.

One may scoff that Halo, Titanfall and Gears is a one-note lineup of exclusives, but it's hard to argue with having them on your system, innit?

...eager to insist the latest deal doesn't indicate a move away from software, Epic's PR manager Wes Philips took to Twitter to reassure fans:

And for people saying Epic isn't making games anymore, we currently have multiple games in development, including @FortniteGame.

As a huge Gears of War fan, I'm a bit concerned that Epic won't be involved anymore.

We saw what happened when Epic is not directy involved on the game as it was the case with Gears Of War Judgement ( made by People can Fly )...

On the other hand, this is great move by Microsoft, I'm pretty sure the game would have end up on PS4 at some point. So this keeps more exclusives for MS.
