Got locked out of my house today since the lock froze. Piece of shit. I got in eventually with a hammer and anti-freeze. Sprayed some WD-40 in it.

Gonna eat nachoes tonight for supper, but I'm probably gonna get sick off the cheese since I recently discovered I may be lactose intolerant, but I hate wasting food I already bought. Shit.

Now to be a misery guts all evening and play FF8.

I just shipped 60% (18 games) of my Wii U collection to my nephews. Here's hoping they enjoy them more than I did; which is not to say I did not have fun with those games, I just no longer have any need of them.

which games? (skip the ones nobody cares about)
Basically I sent them just about every E-T Nintendo published game I own(ed) So all the Mario platformers on the system, kart, Windwaker/TP, Pikmin, etc. I can't even remember most of them already. I also sent them Monster Hunter 3 U, fingers crossed that they can get into it.

Man, I should really notice when millions of people are flooding Times Square and Mario or Mewtwo is there.
Miyamoto is having a discussion at the Apple NYC store in SoHo today, I have got a seat to it. I own 0 apple products so I will be very jealous.

Thought I'd drop in and leave a "hey" now that my work week has started and I'll probably forget to drop by until Saturday night.

This last weekend was weird. Not only did I have 3 different 3DS's on my desk, I was actually using all of them for several hours each as well. (Pokemon Moon on the big 3ds, Pokemon Sun on the Japanese Nu3DS, and Fire Emblem Awakening on the Recordable 3DS)

Ok a quick question.

Will the video game industry ever end its crunch era? I'm currently in the industry and something about my health just doesn't feel right at all..... And am I really that less of a passionate of the one who suffers less instead of suffering more than the other one?

I don't give a fuck that this is fake, this shit's still hilarious. Even more hilarious though are the people getting up in arms about it.

@mattavelle1 I think I found something for your kids this Christmas.

Story time before I hit the hay, folks.

So earlier this evening, I was hanging out with some friends having a movie night (We watched Ong-Bak, followed by MST3K: Space Mutiny, if you're curious), and today is when we've just had are first real winter storm of the season. So, of course on the drive home, I wanted to get a taste of how the Jeep would handle it. Keep in mind that it was after midnight at this point, so traffic was at a minimum. I drove for over an hour on main, and residential roads, including highways, usually in snow mode, but occasionally tried out sport mode just for kicks (Sport Mode + Snow = ). Needless to say, even with those Firestone All-terrain tires, it handled everything very well, and I just might even hold off on getting winter tires at this rate. But I digress.

So, while driving on one of the local highways, I came across a car that had just put itself into a ditch, and so I turned around, and came over to help. The guy in the car had already called his parents, and by the time I got there they had arrived with a rope. I suggested we could hook one end to their rear axle (originally the father was going to attach to the muffler, but I warned them they would have a bad time if they did that  ), and the other end to my rear tow hook. Now, since I had never done anything like this, I put the car into low range, and locked the rears (which was probably overkill, but I prefer to be prepared right? I mean, I even put my overalls on just so I could get underneath the kids' car and hook the rope so my jeans wouldn't get all wet from the snow). The Jeep pulled the car out of the ditch without skipping a beat. I unhooked the rope, they all thanked me, I shook their hands, told them to have a good night, and drove off.

By a simple case of right place, right time, you too can also help others in need. :mthumb:

Reminder that this franchise began with a film that was basically a reserved Point Break ripoff, but with NFS Underground style street racing. How far we've come. I do not mind, whatever gets more Riddick movies funded.

The franchise gets more and more ridiculous as more movies get made, and yet I don't care. They are my guilty pleasure, and I get a lot of pleasure watching them. I remember going to see the very first one with my older brother on opening day, and I've watched them all ever since.

I cannot wait for The Fate of the Furious next year (which btw I think is a rather odd name, but whatevs). :mthumb:

its a genius name.
I've told my story about my relationship with the Fast and Furious series (which by the way, Furious 7 is easily tops probably maybe).

I just cant fathom what they'll name the 9th movie.

Simple: Call it Furious NEIN!
or since this one used furious... call it the fast and the flatulent .. then the next would be farting furious... then the fart and the flatulence...

by that time it will have an entirely new cast... mainly made up of a floppy headed canadian duo

but seriously.. this one has tanks and submarines... so next up has to be a car battle in space right?

I went to a local Street Fighter tournament yesterday. There were only 4 of us because I live in the asshole of Texas, but supposedly they are more crowded regularly, so I'll keep a lookout for upcoming tournaments. The good part is that now I have a good idea of the skill levels of the locals, and the best of them are not that far away imo.

I also decided to set up my X360 again. I'll be playing SF3 online, but also Vanquish while I'm at it and so I can finally make @EvilTw1n happy.

I got back from the specialist today and it looks like with certain treatments I'll be able to prevent myself from becoming fully mute. I won't get my full voice back, but I'll still be able to whisper really loudly so I'll take what I can get and praise the Lord for the blessings I receive. Especially since until today I was preparing myself for the fact that I was going to become fully mute sometime next year.

Why is it that Mario games feel more emphasis on power ups being a matter of life and death? I don't like levels that are tied to that specific power up. Some people say this is good game design, but it feels very forced, linear and contrived

that shows that you like games that feel natural, where as many others like to feel the hand of the game's creator in their work

super mario run is a great example of this.. just watching videos, every tiny individual thing seems to have a purpose towards guiding your play experience... I think that is brilliant.. but it obviously doesn't feel natural...

personally i hate proceduraly generated games, or games in which design isn't paramount feel lazy to me....

Which Super Mario games were you referring to? There are certain levels in Super Mario titles which sometimes enforce the usage of a singular or multiple power-up system (Super Mario Galaxy and onward comes to mind as these titles embraced it instead of using it like a novelty), but these are great because it mixes things up considerably and encourages specialised level design while making those powerups not feel like a complete waste of space. In other words, while Super Mario gives the standard platforming fare, powerups in the game gives Nintendo the excuse to try something new without drastically changing the core mechanics of the series.

A good example of a poor execution of this method is Sonic Unleashed, where the Day/Night werewolf mechanic was so poorly done it was like playing two different videogames. This is in direct contrast to Sonic Colors, where the Sonic Team utilised game changes in the form of powerups from the wisps. That way the core concept of modern Sonic is still there, but they can add something completely new without being too intrusive. It also has the added benefit of not creating an entire game around a mechanic a player may hate, so even if a level in a game has a certain playstyle to it, then only that level would be a chore to the player and not the others.

For the most part, the majority of levels in Super Mario games can be completed without the help of powerups, but it's nice to know that they were meant for something more focused and thought out than as a difficulty adjuster.

This weekend, we had our "Friendsmas" Celebration. My friend Greg has Nintendo products, but he prefers the XBox brand. We played this great game called "Fibbage" from the Jackbox studio. (Great party game)
But we also played a lot of Rockband. I had forgotten how fun it was. Steve2 really got into it, so we decided as a Christmas gift to ourselves we'd get Rockband for the PS4. It arrives today, and Steve2 is super excited like a kid on Christmas morning.
I plan to get good on the drums and not just spend all the time as the lead singer. (Though a band does want a charismatic frontman.)

Guys..I have a day and a half until Christmas Break. I need you all to like do some Dragon Ball Z style transference of energy or something. I can't take too many more days like the last 3. I've suspended about 5 kids personally, talked to 3 police officers (one involving an irate, threatening parent and the other for a strung out one...not the kids), had to join that hell called instagram to do investigations into something uploaded online, been cussed out by parents, and I was informed of something today I don't even dare repeat but it involves things being drawn on bathroom walls with stuff you wouldn't expect only to have the janitor reply, "Again?!?!" Top that off with teaching a full schedule and running into 2 days this week where I've been with kids from 8 to 5 without a break...I need some freakin' time off.

My area was affected by a cyclone that managed to pull away huge trees, billboards and some few rooftops. There was no power for two whole days and while currently the power has come back alongside water, the internet is still pending.

So as soon as I check news...wow. A lot has been revealed in just two days! Guess news will always keep trending no matter what it is!

But not being able to chat here for two days was a bit depressing.....

Dude that sucks. I've been there. Hurricane Rita knocked our area out for over a month without electricity.

Did y'all have any damage? Glad to hear you are still in one piece!

The only damage that was in the house was the rooftop and some billboards being taken out. Other than that, not much.

Wow...you didn't have electricity for a month. I didn't have it for two days.....wonder if its luck that makes your life harder than mine....or mine being harder than yours....

Life is life. I'm sure mine is easier in some ways and harder in others. That happened years ago by the way. I would be ticked off losing electricity for two days right now, for sure, haha. I guess the important thing is that y'all are safe and doing well afterwards. :mthumb:
