Interviewing people is always fun because I get to learn new things and meet new and interesting folks! Today we have a gamer girl who is also a cosplayer (and does regular modeling, too!). To top THAT off, my next giveaway is also announced and tied to this episode! :)

Enjoy!

Many people picked up a Wii U for Mario Kart 8, and they also did it because you got to choose from a free game. This free game was often Pikmin 3, but many people have yet to play it! Then again, people who didn't get it free should still buy this must-own game!

Enjoy! Thread updated!

First things first: I've moved to a new video editing suite. This is my first use of it, so I wouldn't mind some feedback on the new transitions! The new software is still cheap, but far more advanced than what I was using before!

Of course, the important bit is what this video is about: it's also my first Xbox One game review! So what do I think about the revival of the Killer Instinct franchise? Watch it and find out! :)

Actually, I am considering an XBone before PS4 because of the exclusives. I was a huge Killer Instinct fan back in the day and its kind of killing me that I can't play it.
See the video above, it's practically just for you, hahaha!;)

Ohh...my...goodness. First of all, great video and review. I will have to check more of your stuff out. It is really professionally done and you have a good announcer voice unlike the squeaky 12 year olds that cuss every two seconds.

Secondly, I need to hit up Ebay around Christmas or wait in line for a good deal because I think you just sold an Xbone. I'm that big of a fan of the original KI...sigh.

Thirdly, ULLLLTRRAAAAAAAAAAAA COMMMBOOOOOOOOO! I enjoyed that you emphasized the sounds.

Randomly, I was just complaining that Tekken has too many characters the other day and made it feel rather impersonal (the ideals behind minimalism in art dealt with this) and made the game unrelatable for me. I think a roster of 8 to 16 is very much what I would want in a fighting game and then having them add more in "seasons" isn't a bad idea. The costumes were pretty nifty and I could see myself playing the game enough to unlock them opposed to paying for things like I do in Toribash which is my current favorite fighting game.

Also, the transitions were well done but I think taking the green and having it turn transparent in sort of a gradient towards the bottom might be nice. You don't have any text down there and seemed empty but I knew I was supposed to be looking at the game which was all the sudden green. I would look at it first though and see if you like it because I could see some problems with that too.

Thanks, I'll be continually providing Xbox One content, so if you're going to become an owner and want peer reviews and info, I'd be happy to be that guy!

KI's Season 2 is coming mid-October, and I'm pretty excited about it, being a KI fan myself! You can't go wrong as a fan of this game, it retains its arcade feel, and is a worthy purchase!

And thank you for your feedback on transitions. With this new software is a lot of stuff I can do, so I'll work on the transitions over time ;)

I never thought I'd do anything musical, but here it is! My first time writing lyrics and rapping, and it's for the Wii U! This project was one hell of an ordeal, despite what it looks like, for one guy all by himself! I also give props to my sister for finding the time to help me out with recording and producing the song itself!

Enjoy! :D

While there are many, and I mean MANY, other places to get news, I still like to talk about Nintendo news... That I care about! You see, not ALL Nintendo news may matter to me, but sometimes, just sometimes, the news really gets me all fired up. Or more accurately, a certain area that results in having to change pants. So I take on a different format for my news, and talk about a few things, some that result in having to change pants... again...

- Smash Bros roster leak
- Mario Kart 8 DLC packs
- Mario Kart 8 live tournament with real prizes
- Wii U positivity rap music video

Just want to issue a quick apology for anyone who had some issues trying to watch the video earlier today or those who waited for it and it didn't come up for another 1.5 hours! It wasn't on my end, it was YouTube's, but I'd still like to apologize for any inconvenience!

Thank you again for your support of my little talk show! :)

@ZyroXZ2 , great review on Destiny !
I like the Nintendo comparison for Bungie as far as expectations goes. You're so right !!!

Halo 2 and Halo 3 had ridiculous expectations as well. And many Halo fans - myself included - were a bit disappointed. But maybe our expectations were just too big...

@ZyroXZ2 , great stuff again there !
However, I was a bit surprised by your rating I was expecting a lower score after listening your review.

I haven't played the game, but I've played Musou games before. And I can't stand them ! So even with a Zelda template, it won't make a difference. So not sure every Zelda fans out there would enjoy that kind of Zelda spin off...

I've seen this happening on a lot of smaller Nintendo sites including this one. You read the review and it's negative to ok for the most part and then you see the final score of 8. Idk what it is, but I personally think that some reviewers simply didn't want to score it below on 8 due to their inner fanboy. Not saying that that's the case here, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case at most places. To be fair to Zyro, he did say to play it in short bursts so maybe the issues didn't bother him as much.

I agree.

I think there is a pressure from fanboys ( and I include myself there... ) when it comes to some franchises, especially Zelda.

Don't even try to give a negative review on a Zelda game or you are DESTROYED by fanboys !!!
I still remember the 8.8 for Twilight Princess on Gamespot, I'm pretty sure Jeff Gerstmann left Gamespot because of the outrage following that review. 8.8 is NOT a bad review at all ! But anything below 9.0 or even 9.5 was pretty much scorched by fans !

And what about the "infamous" 7.8 by Gametrailers on Wind Waker HD. I think Mike Damiani took a leave of absence of something after that... To this day ! That review follows him as a dark shadow... I'm pretty sure that's why he awarded a 9.8 to a Link between worlds, a pretty unusual high score for gametrailers ! Kind of to redeem himself I guess...

So yes, beware when you review a Zelda game :) !!!

Truth be told, I thought it'd be giving it lower, too, but in reality, I did talk about all the positives. There's no denying the fan service and kicking butt as Zelda have amazing moments, so for any LoZ series fan, this is not a game to be missed. Add to that a serviceable story, decent graphics, and an interesting Adventure mode, and anything in the 7's is just too low. However, anything higher than an 8 would be ignoring the major flaws the game has in its gameplay nature as well. I think I gave it a fair score. It's something any LoZ fan must have, but by far not a perfect game.

Whoops, didn't realize you had made another post after the last one, lol...

No, I'm not Nintendo-fanboy-fearing, as evidenced by my PC and Xbox One sections, as well as the eventual addition of the PS4. I'm going to score the game to the conclusion I came to, it's really as simple as that! :)

@ZyroXZ2 , sorry I did not implied that your review was not right. I was just surprised by the score after listening your review. You insisted on so many negative - and positives as well - that I expected a lower score. But that's fine ! Sometimes games can have lots of negatives points, but the gameplay is so spot on and fun that in the end a high score is justified. It seems to be the situation here.

You know I like to bring the example of Lord of the Rings Conquest, one of my favorite game of last gen. The game graphics were average, there were plenty of technical limitations and invisible walls, the single player was poor and the controls were at best descent. However, WHAT A BLAST ! I would give that game 9/10 without hesitations.

Having said that, I think it's clear the Zelda games "generally" gets more positive review because that franchise is beloved by so many gamers. Of course, I'm not saying it's your case here. But for example the legions of 10s "Skyward Sword" ( 27 perfect score on Metacritic ) and "Twilight Princess" received despite their ( 24 perfect score on Metacritic ) shortcomings.

Gameinformer for instance gave 10 to Twilight Princess, Skyward Sword and a Link between worlds... If Zelda Wii U is has spectacular and impressive as the Reveal, I think we can pretty guess the rating...

I did the Nintendo Enthusiast review of this game and had pretty much EXACTLY the same reaction. Had lots of negative things to say (as well as positives), and in the end gave the game an 8. Cue people saying my score was too high. Well i stand by the 8. And it's not because of being a fanboy OR fearing other fanboy's reactions - it probably actually just comes down to being a Zelda fan. The game is definitely worth an 8 if you're a Zelda fan. And let's be honest - most of us are!

I actually think the problem is the opposite of what you're thinking, to be honest. It's Zelda, and anything with that skin is going to have higher expectations, so fans such as myself are looking for the BAD instead of the GOOD. I think this also conversely happens with the reactions to reviews. Viewers/readers are fans, and are looking for the GOOD instead of the BAD. If you look at it this way, everything makes sense on both the reactions and the reviews.

I can actually say that was the case with me: I expect such a high level of polish from something using Zelda as its IP that the bad things are what I see first. However, to remain professional, this perspective should not result in me scoring the game lower than it deserves, and I feel an 8 is the right balance of "it's a must buy for a Zelda fan, but expect a flawed game".

I decided to look at Metacritic, and I'm really not that far off: the critics have a 75, and the user scores have an 84. If you split the difference, it's a 79.5, haha :D

@ZyroXZ2 , I respect the fact that you each time expect the most of Zelda games, so you could actually be harsher than for other games. And I think that Nintendo is up to the challenge anyway and each time try to raise the game. I wish more reviewers would adopt the same ethical standards...

However, as I pointed out in previous post, the Zelda games are not perfect ( especially the last 2 home consoles games ). SO MANY perfect scores are certainly NOT an example of that harsher approach when it comes to reviews...

What I find interesting here is that I would actually give Skyward Sword a 10/10. While I would lambast it for backtracking and also taking the lightseed collection straight from Twilight Princess, it is nonetheless a masterpiece of combat control skill requirement and a MASSIVE step forward for storytelling and cinematic presentation for the Zelda series... Not to mention far more sophisticated character development than has ever been done before...

I bring my first guest onto the Xbox "Hut" show, and allow him to try his skills at Forza Motorsport 5... with my steering wheel setup! He's consequently also the first dude to come on my show as a guest!

As a player who's been using a controller, how well does he fare with a force feedback steering wheel? Let's watch and find out!

I dunno, I'm not a big Zelda fan nor am I a big DW fan. My reaction to the game's announcement made that pretty obvious. Over 20 hours in and somehow I am still able to really really enjoy this game. I can definitely see it being a drag for some, luckily I'm not one of them.
Just to note, there are more than just costumes in the DLC. New modes, characters, maps and an entirely new story.

While the reaction was hilarious to witness, this is a joke, right?

As mentioned (and consequently also a comment reply I made, lol), I said "that includes" :p In the comment reply, I stated that the issue is that I don't want any of the costumes, which makes it hard to justify paying $20 for the DLC season pass.

I dunno, Skyward Sword made far more developed characters that gave you serious feels as the story went on... But we'll agree to disagree, hahaha

SS was by no means bad, but the relationship between that world's Link/Zelda was less developed than it was in ST. I like seeing things, and while things are implied in SS, the love was seen in ST.
Especially nearer to the end of the game, Zelda just seems very distant and unresponsive in SS.

NFS: MW is probably my favorite third party game on Wii U and just one of my favorite games that I've played on Wii U. Overall, I had a bunch of fun playing this game, going back and forth with the users here, trying to one up scores and what not.Plus, it's the definitive version of the game. Surprisingly, I think that MW on Wii U looked better than the latest game on PS4. Granted, I didn't spend too much time with Hot Pursuit 2 or whatever it was called because I just wasn't feeling it. It's a shame that the latest NFS game couldn't deliver because I could use a good racer right about now. Been thinking of picking up Forza Horizon 2.

There's nothing quite like the unrealism of an arcade racer. But what if that was layered with sim racing characteristics, placed in a highly detailed and large open world, and spattered with lots of cars and various activities? What you have is this.

Also, my British apparently degrades drastically on 3 hours of sleep...

She's hot.
Can't wait her Daisy and Peach take :)
Me, too, she's a hard worker, which is why I'm actually PISSED at how few Likes to Dislikes it has on the number of views... Nicole is awesome, and I feel there's a lack of respect on display here, especially considering she was being herself for the interview. She's straight up one of the coolest people I've talked to, and deserves some respect. I'd thumbs up that video multiple times if I could, and she even spoke up about her favoritism for Nintendo.

Bayonetta 2 had been something of a controversial Wii U exclusive, with responses escalating to death threats against Platinum Games. Well, fast forward to now, and the game is out in the wild on the one and only Wii U.

So should fans of the series shut up and put up with buying a Wii U just for Bayonetta 2? Let's find out!

Oh, and Happy Halloween! :]

As one of your fanboy here, as usual, impressed with your work !
Your review seems to confirm that Bayonetta 2 is a very strong candidate for GOTY.

Personally, I would have love to play this game, I just feel uneasy with all the devilish stuff inside the game. I'm fine to fight demons... But to fight Angels ? Not for me... Sorry. That's why I returned to Game years ago, my copy of Bayonetta on 360. And this really hurts... As a die hard Ninja Gaiden fan, of course Bayonetta was intended for me :(

That said, happy to see that folks here at TNE are embracing the game.

I have to say, I AM quite curious why the issue with fighting angels, considering it's just a videogame... Yet a part of me doesn't want to go down this road since I can somewhat guess where it leads, lol

It's just personal really. I'm fine to play with bad guys. But killing angels ? It's just too far for me.

You see I don't think you should be able to do ANYTHING in videogames, because it's just a videogame... I guess you saw the controversy on the trailer of Hatred. I find it absolutely pathetic ! Are we going to allow rapes or genocides in videogames, because we they are just videogames ?

That's a complicated topic, we discussed it at length on this thread : http://nintendoenthusiast.com/forums/threads/violence-in-games-where-is-the-limit.1244/

Well, I mean, without reading that thread, I can tell there's some religious stuff here, which is a bad topic to discuss on the internet, but...

Rape, genocide, murder, they're all real and happen in real life. Angels with a face on their sword that can fly around without wings is a bit far removed from reality and clearly doesn't exist. I think boiling the concept down to "killing angels" is being too dramatic, lol
