THE SUPER MEGA E3 PREDICTION COUNTDOWN THREAD

So the countdown to E3 is on and Reggie recently commented at a big E3 for Nintendo.

The hype train has left the station and its not for slowing down!

What are your hopes? Dreams? Predictions?
How much of this years E3 will you believe?

Have any huge disappointments from years gone past that you don't want to see repeated in some form or fashion?

Personally I think past E3's have promised a whole load but eventually things never live upto the hype, as Nintendo fans we have all been burned in some way or another but that doesn't let us abandon the hype train.

This year I hope for huge 3rd party support, main stay cross platform franchises. Yes I want CoD, Battlefield, Assassins etc. With the uptake on Switch from a non-holiday launch this can only show a promising holiday period running into Black Friday and Christmas, having some strong 3rd party franchises will help enforce the support.

I expect Retro to finally reveal their own ground up game developed for Wii U changed to Switch new IP.
A new Metroid is in the works, we get a sizzle trailer, its vast, exploratory, interplanetary, looks unreal. First Person. (Not developed by Retro)

Ok, lets see what you crazy bunch expect/hope for!

The single biggest thing I want from Nintendo is Retro's game. What could have they been possibly working on for the past 4 years?

1. I think we are going back to a live stage presentation. We were promised some sort of "new" style of Nintendo Direct post-Iwata, and I think they've dropped that and will be returning to hopefully smarter paced stage presentations ala Switch reveal.
Treehouse Live of course will remain a thing.

2. 3DS is fucking dead announcement, buy a Switch you fucking nerds

3. Grab these sick accessories and new Joycon colors

4. Games: Metroid announcement, Virtual Console stuff, a lot of retreading on recently released or soon to be released games like ARMS and Splatoon 2. Definitely announcements of DLC for all games (MK8, ARMS, Splatoon) and further detailing of Zelda DLC. Idk, maybe Animal Crossing and Retro's game if it isnt Metroid. Smash Bros.
Pokemon
oh, Dat Xenoblade 2
Dat Fire Emblem

Third parties, I dont expect to see any western support besides EA and Ubisoft. Indies will be sent some love again. Suda will reveal his game, which at this point has to be No More Heroes 3 even though he didnt explicitly say that during the Switch Reveal. Sega will announce some Yakuza games that arent the new one where you can flirt with Anri Okita why fucking live. Capcom will show off Monster Hunter 5 (also its multiplat now but whatever). Maybe tease a partnership that evolves into Nintendo vs Capcom. Platinum Games partnership, maybe Bayonetta 3 oh god baby please. Square Enix announces some Tactics/Chronicles game that ties into but isnt FFXV. Also DQX/XI localization. also fucking Atlus bringing in the noise with SMT5

Probable
-2017 release date for Xenoblade 2
-More Mario Odyssey info
-Further details on fall Zelda DLC
-Smash Bros Switch
-Details on Fire Emblem Switch
-Project Octopath Traveler gets a new name
-Monster Hunter 5
-SE says they have a big announcement. Shows Final Fantasy Logo. ...Crystal Chronicles.

50:50
-Metroid. I have an odd feeling that it's not showing up. I want to be very, very wrong.
-Big muhfuggin Pokemon
-No More Heroes 3

Probably not, but maybe?
-Shin Megami Tensei Project details
-Maybe a further collab reveal with Atlus/Nintendo (c'mon, more TMS)
-Bravely Default Something or Other

There will either be one big, unexpected "HOLY SHIT" moment not listed above, or Metroid will be the holy shit moment.

Why do you think MH5 is probable? I'm asking because I want to be also on this hype train. :)

Xenoblade - I still firmly believe this is a 2018 title, MAYBE 2017 in Japan, hope I am wrong
Mario - more info? it'll be f'n playable
zelda dlc - seems like a no brainer, but... nintendo and all
smash - I imagine so
fire emblem - I'd say this is 50/50
Octopath Traveler: Starsky Elevate Sitter
monster hunter - I don't think a monster hutner game has ever been announced first in the west, TGS for MH, TGS or some other japan event
wait, capcom makes final fantasy? lol
metroid - as much as I love metroid I fear it will be retro making it if anybody does, which is depressing to me both because I want an acrobatic metroid, not a slower fpa, but also because I want retro to do a f'n original IP already
no more heroes - I think this might actually be very likely... at least a teaser... suda was talkign about easy development, and grasshopper makes budget games, which have faster dev times... so I could totally see a tease, kind of like the first nmh2 tease... only really showing Travis

-------------------

my own predictions:

Zelda DLC
Mario Odyssey playable
Retro's game (probably metroid, hopefully not DK, please be an original IP)
Smash
xenoblade 2 full trailer
a 3rd party reel with short teases for at least 3 of these games - no more heroes 3, beyond good and evil 2, bayonetta 3, Toshihiro Nagoshi's (Yakuza) new game, overwatch, GTA3 (yes, I think we will get something that insultingly old from somebody, why not rockstar.. and not a remake either), Hearthstone, Fallout 4... Sudoku Challenge, Resident Evil 7... Sudoku Classified, Destiny 2... Tic Tac Toe

Monster Hunter 4 was announced during the first ever Nintendo Direct, along with Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate. It was a crazy Direct.

Predictions are made to be wrong. I'm guessing like everyone else. I just think MH has become pretty important for Nintendo...

Heh, got cross eyed while typing about MonHun/Capcom. But I do think there's a good chance MH shows at E3 simply because it's becoming an integral ingredient for a Nintendo console's success, not just in Japan anymore (granted, we only get VGC numbers and Japan is still number one, but if it's moving a million-plus in Europe/NA, that's a healthy chunk). TGS is a contender, of course, but given how much Japanese-centric stuff Nintendo showed off in the Switch reveal sizzle real and all we've seen since...I wouldn't be surprised to see that trend continuing unabated, even at E3.

My first 2 predictions have been deaded. Cant ever predict these fools at Nintendo. Also extra worried at how much time will be devoted to the 240p line of consoles. Hype has died down quite a bit for me.

I don't get why 3rd party support wouldn't show up. The freaking PSP got 3rd party love from Western developers and that thing is way, way, way less scalable than the Switch and the initial sales weren't as good. Is it simply the stigma that M rated games don't sell on Nintendo systems? If that's the case, work to change it bruv. Most of my 3DS games were 3rd party until I sold the thing in a state of hypomania.

I hope Sony pulls off another classy event like last year's. That one was exciting.

Besides Death Stranding, I also wanna see updates on God of War and Days Gone.

In December they said God of War was playable, so I hope to get a release date for this year.

Revising my predictions after the news that the Switch Spotlight will be ~30 minutes long.
1. Monster Hunter XX Localization announcement. Gloabal releasse day and date with Japan would be nice, but I think a month later or whatever will be fine.
2. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 release date confirmation in 2017. Keeping the hope alive.
3. ARMS update, Splatoon 2 update, MK8 DLC, Pokken reiteration, Fire Emblem Warriors, Skyrim, FIFA, Madden.
4. Mario+Rabbids revealed to be a hoax, hiding some other shitty game instead
5. 10 minutes on Super Mario Odyssey
6. Mario will have the ability to stop time

No big surprises. Nothing outside of 2017.

I don't think we're going to see a single game reveal for anything that is coming out beyond June 2018. They will stick to a few reveals, but mostly OMG LOOK AT NEW 3D MARIO YOU GUIZ.

I am fine with this. The Switch release schedule right now is looking pretty sweet as is.

I expect 2 game reveals. My predictions: Pikmin 4 and Animal Crossing.

I am expecting, or at least hoping that this nintendo e3 will run at a very fast pace without long game demos or excessive information on each title... that will come from treehouse

here are my 5 hard predictions

1. a 3rd party reel or showing with at least 5, previously unannounced games from non-indy 3rd parties.
2. at least 2 new 1st party reveals (not wii u ports).. could be metroid, could be pikmin, animal crossing, whatevs
3. something announced and released that day... could be a vc game, or app (netflix, amazon)
4. a surprise mode for mario... maybe something akin to the captain toad levels in 3dw, or a multiplayer mode of some sort, something outside of the basic adventure
5. a fairly big 2nd or 3rd party exclusive (think bayonetta 2) that isn't rabbids related

I think the rabbids crossover is real, but I wont make that one of my predictions

here will be my breakdown of points... each of the numbered rpedictions cna net me up to 20 points... if a prediction says atleast 2 games, then 1 game gets me 10, 2 gets me 20, anything over still just gets me 20...

I am further predicting I'll get at least 80 points

What confirmed games are you guys most excited about?
Xenoblade 2
Splatoon 2 - not really excited about the e3 presentation, for it, just the game itself
Mario
South Park (if this comes to switch I will probably have an orgasm)

those are the games I know will be at e3 in some form

ones I hope will be there

Beyond Good and Evil 2 - switch exclusive
Bayonetta 3
Metroid
No More Heroes 3
Pikmin 4
Project Octopath Traveler
DQ11 Switch
Shin Megami Tensei 5
Persona 5 Switch

mostly I am excited for something that rocks that I have never heard of before... like an original IP from Retro, or a new switch rpg from mistwalker

The ones I want to see:

Last of us 2

God of war

Kingdom hearts 3

Days Gone

Death Stranding

Splatoon 2

MHXX

Crackdown 3

Destiny 2

Ni no Kuni II

The confirmed game I'm most excited to see is Splatoon 2. I also want to see God of
War.

The game I'm not excited to see is CoD. Going to WWII is lame.

Only cool thing out of EA
clever use of the split screen, with the way it changes to give more real estate to the person who needs it or changes from side by side to top and bottom depending on the need...

there is even a part where both characters are on 1 screen while the other shows an outside perspective...

that is very cool... so cool ideas and all, but being able to only play in co-op could be problematic for the game's success, and it is the execution of these ideas that really matters in the end

On Wii, GC, DS days I was a Nintendo only player, almost..

I still love Japanese games and Nintendo release a lot of good ones. 3DS is my favourite console ever, so far... mentioning only 3DS.. Franchises that I enjoy: Entrian Odissey, Shin Megami Tensei, Yokai Watch, Professor Layton, Pokémon, Monster Hunter, Fire Emblem... Just to mention a few.

$500 Xbox One X. I'm not sold but I also dont have a 4k TV so it wouldnt have appealed to me much anyhow. Still, big asking price for something they didnt really make a good case for in the presentations, since all the games were multiplat or playable on PCs.

Reggie confirmed direct is 25 minutes... Said there would be reveals outside of direct... 1 within the first hour of treehouse live...

Also said, to my horror, that the 3ds is getting a lot of love at e3

Also Geoff really sucked at ARMS. Reggie should have just smoked him, he was doing a terrible job of showing off the game.

Treehouse is very much gonna be 3DS announcements.

I'm personally not interested in it because all the majority of big hitters are still either PS console exclusive or they have exclusive content on PS4. Plus, I just bought the One S this past November for $450 and wouldn't be able to flip it for anywhere near that price. Third time being burned by Xbox One. First they got me on the launch day bundle. Then, they got me on that H5 console only to replace it a year later with the Gears One S. I love the One X console itself though and am more interested in it than PS4 Pro which I have very little interest in. It's just ugly and kinda weak compared to One X. My go to system is still the PS4 Slim, boasting the best design and games.

Suda was on Devolver's press conference thing (it wasnt a real show, dont go out of your way to watch it).
BUT, in the background of his little joke segment, he was playing Hotline Miami.
RECALL in Nintendo Switch's reveal conference: He said his Switch game was going to feature Travis and an indie-costar. I am at this time positive it's Jacket from Hotline Miami. Its a pretty good fit, imo. I still dont think this is No More Heroes 3. And its not gonna be at E3 either. But I figure I'd mention this discovery of mine.

I'm just really happy that Evil Within 2 was announced. The first game is underrated, and I can imagine this net one will be better.

The new Wolfenstein also looks cool, even if they turned up the silliness to 11.

I'm also glad that Dishonored 2 is getting more content. I'll have lots of game to go through when I finally get around to it.
