I'm bringing my Wii U to the Tech Museum of Innovation in San Jose!

Yup, you heard me

https://www.facebook.com/events/758822367469883/

If you're in the area, and want to come play games with me (and get caught on camera), come on down!

There's also a giveaway posted on my YouTube *wink wink*

This is only being posted to forums that have shown positive support for my show, hehe

(copy and pasted that, it might be kinda jacked up... lol)

So apparently I made a rookie mistake and missed putting something in the description of the video for the giveaway, and now have to go and message everyone who commented as an entry...

Someone asked me about the cost to send it to another country, and I told them it says US residents only... Except that it doesn't, I clearly forgot to put that in there along with the winner selection and announcement date...

Soooooo, yea, the giveaway is for US residents only, since I'm sending it USPS... Sorry! Keep an eye out for a message from my on YouTube asking to verify your country of origin, as a response will be required so I can filter the list before it goes into the pool!

Wii U: So outdated and old, you can find it in a museum!
ps4 is so totally rad, you can only find it in the future.

On a more serious note, that was not only a good place to show off Wii U, but also nice work doing the showing, telling, and recording.

2 x Bravo
Bravo 1Great to be a "true" ambassador of the Wii U. That event was a great idea and myabe some of the folks that tried it, will buy the Wii U at some point.
Bravo 2Great video on youtube. I think you're very articulate and make great points. I will only disagree on the online. the lack of online play for games as Mario 3D World and Tropical Freeze is unacceptable. We're in 2014. No more excuse. Apart from that great stuff and Keep the good work.

How do you expect online to work in a platformer?

It's not happening

Online would only work in an Adventure platormer like Banjo Kazooie or with shitty physics like in LBP.

And still its not enjoyable. Neither was it in Ratchet and Clank.

Online sucked in Splosion man, like it sucks in every platformer they dont work

It CAN work, but it cannot work if there is serious teamwork required. This is the issue with online multiplayer in many games overall: complexity. When it comes to more simply games like CoD or whatnot, it's not a big deal. But when each person dramatically effects the overall gameplay experience, online can be a total nightmare. Trine 2 is a good example of trying online multiplayer in a platformer, and guess what? It's a nightmare to play with people online unless they already know what they're doing, or unless they're your friends and you can easily communicate with them. Trine 2 is FAR better experienced as a local multiplayer experience. I've tried it, it's a sample of why not ALL games need online just because it has multiple playable characters!
MMOs are one of the only exceptions to the rule of complexity, but MMOs are also an entirely different ground...

Trine also doesnt rely on precise frame by frame physics like a Mario or DK game would

I think if the right effort was put into it, online will work just fine.
The truth is that Nintendo is not pushing online in games, because it's not in their DNA.
They are still playing catch up in the online department on many fronts.
Nintendo games to this have rarely the amount of online features you get in other games on different platforms.

I agree that platform games shines at their best when you play locally, but it would be great to have an online option.
I use to play Mario games with my bros every 6 months, because we see each other roughly every 6 months.
We wish there was an online to enjoy those games more often.
However, we play other games on 360 on a weekly basis !

By the way, that excuse about online not working for platform games was the same thrown at fighting games.
That one is gone, because devs worked to improve the codes in order to deliver a smoother experience.
So I don't see why not could not e the case for platformers.

You do realize fighting games are nothing like platformers right?
Those games have animation startups and sequences. It gives you room for error as well. It's certainly not as precise as local either.
And if you're talking about Nintendo then whats up with Knack and Rayman Legends not having multiplayer hmm?

If you want a game with Online it needs to be DESIGNED that way from the ground up
