If I die of vanity, promise me, promise me
They bury me some place I don't want to be, you’ll dig me up and transport me,
unceremoniously,
Away from the swollen city breeze, garbage bag trees,
Whispers of disease, and the acts of enormity,
And lower me slowly and sadly and properly,
Get Ry Cooder to sing my eulogy.

Another song I FINALLY figured out what it was, and who did it. I actually did know the song at some point, but simply forgot, and have been trying to figure out the song ever since. At first I thought it was Cheap Trick, but then while watching John Oliver, he mentioned The Kinks, and then the light bulb hit. This is true, I remember the artist had a "K" in its name towards the end, but incorrectly thought cheap trick. It wasn't until I heard The Kinks, and then it proceeded from there.

This is how my life is sometimes when figuring out music of which you have little to go on besides the beats, and maybe a letter or two for visual reference.

I've been on a Neko Case kick lately. I mainly got into her music around Fox Confessor Brings the Flood, because the older stuff was a bit too country. But there are a few little gems in there.

I have been addicted to this youtube channel
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCZ4_moy3xNXKrkbkP4XL_BA
it is just a bunch of japanese musicians that collaborate on covers for anime songs.... what is cool is the personality that comes out of Japan's shy culture.... most of the musicians hide their faces, or even use puppets for their video segments, though 1 bass player (a guy, and not a trans girl, just a guy) tries really hard to make people uncomfortable by dressing in skimpy girls clothing and doing suggestive dance moves lol

but the covers tend to be REALLY good, though straight forward

So glad I grew up on this shit. To come from the rural south this is what gave me prespective on the world. They thought me how it was for all of us. It still helps to to deal with today, knowin it was goin on years and years ago.

@juegosmajicos Have you trawled through bandcamp? It's a slog, but there's a bunch of free stuff in there.

Some samplers:
https://primaryrecords.bandcamp.com/album/primary-records-sampler-vol-i
https://primaryrecords.bandcamp.com/album/sampler-vol-ii

Some covers-only, stripped-back stuff:
https://anthonylamarca.bandcamp.com/album/songs-i-wish-i-wrote

To me, the find in there is Sleepers Work. All over the map EDM.

I used to listen to the Bandcamp weekly podcast last year, I really liked it and found lots of good stuff there (mostly new and indie electronic stuff). I should get back to it sometime soon. I'll check out some of these samplers in the meantime.

I watched the movie Drive awhile back, and remember being baffled how my good friend, the one who has a major hard-on for anything Leo DiCaprio, and Daniel Day Lewis, hated it. His exact words were, "It was HORRIBLE."

I surely hope he didn't think the soundtrack was horrible though, because this is my kind of jam. Not to mention I never really took much notice in Synthwave music, but damn is it good stuff I'm hearing.

and a metal cover of the stranger things theme

That theme is very catchy, and has a good ring to it. The metal version's not bad either. I suppose I had not realized that I like synth wave music until some of the pieces started falling in place. I was listening to the Terminator 1 soundtrack, and loved a lot of the melodies and how it sounded. YT then recommended I listen to that Drive absolute best mix, and that's when I realized that I like synthwave.

And on a related note, when I was playing through Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon, a lot of the same type of music was playing, that 80's retro feeling, while still have a bit of a modern touch. Again, synthwave.

so you haven't watched Stranger Things yet? get on it... it is like everything an 80s/early 90s kid loves wrapped up in a delicious burrito, and then perfectly toasted... the whole score is like that

Yeah, I have not tuned into yet, as you can see. I do plan on it though. :mthumb:

The original Deus Ex is not only one of my Top Five greatest video games of all time, but equally so, it has one of the greatest soundtracks of any game I've ever heard of.

More specifically, however, this track here is so unbelievably badass.

The feels are incredibly intense with this one. During my road trip this summer, this was one of the best songs I heard given where I was, and how I was driving.

One. More. day. Just one more day until the spiritual successor to the greatest television show...in the world launches. Oh, man, I seriously stocked for The Grand Tour on Amazon. I know I shouldn't be so hyped up, but I can't help it.

(in case you don't know, this song is featured in a couple of their trailers. Totally awesome)
